Meet
Beverly A. Fuerst
Van Wert County Treasurer
The
Honorable Beverly A. (Pohlman) Fuerst was appointed Interim Treasurer December
1, 2002 and on December 11, 2002 was appointed Van Wert County Treasurer to
fulfill the unexpired term of Treasurer Harold L. Merkle who was elected
County Commissioner in November, 2002. Treasurer
Fuerst is the 25th treasurer for Van Wert County and the first
woman treasurer for Van Wert County.
Prior to her election, Fuerst worked 7 ½ years in
the County Treasurer’s Office. She
worked 2 years as a Deputy and the last 5 1/2 as the Chief Deputy. She also worked in the customer service department at
Aeroquip and at HBW Insurance while living in Van Wert.
Prior to moving to Van Wert she worked in Columbus for Congressman
Chalmers P. Wylie and Saga/Marriott Corporation. She is a graduate of Columbus Business University and Delphos
St. Johns High School. Fuerst has
attended numerous continuing educational classes with the State Treasurer and
State Auditor offices.
Fuerst has been active in numerous service
organizations: Member of the YMCA
Board of Directors, member of Twig III (Past President & Past Secretary)
Treasurer of the Van Wert Republican Women’s Club, member of the Finance
Committee at St. Mary’s Catholic Church along with being a Youth Ministry
Leader, and a member of the Van Wert Rotary Club.
Fuerst and her husband Duane (Dewey) have resided in
Van Wert since 1985 and have two sons, Matt and Mark.
