Clair
Dudgeon has served as County Commissioner since January 3, 2001,
and currently serves as Vice Chairman.
He is a
farm owner in Willshire Township, 34 years. Prior to becoming a Commissioner, he has managed their
family-owned grain and fertilizer business for 41 years.
During that time he served as many local, state, and national
organizations.
He
serves on an additional 26 committee appointments as Commissioner
representative. Some of
these include, President of Family & Children First Council,
Downtown Development Association, Economic Development Advisory
Council, Revolving Loan Committee, secretary of the P.E.R.C. (Public
Entity Risk Consortium) Board, and many others.
He has
served on the Van Wert County School Board, Vantage Vocational School
Board, Thomas Edison MRDD Board, and the Farmers Mutual Relief
Insurance Association for 36 years.
His state positions have included serving on a Small Business
Advisory Council of the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio Competency
and Proficiency Committee for Vocational Education and President of
the Ohio Fertilizer and Pesticide Association. His participation
nationally included the National Fertilizer Solutions Association.
In 1994, he was awarded the National Environmental
Respect Award in the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. for
“being ahead of their time.”
In 1995, he was on the committee to choose the next national
winner from throughout the United States.
He has
served as President of the Van Wert County Foundation and currently is
serving on its Executive Committee. He is also a member of the
Convoy Lions Club.
He and
his wife Arlene live in Willshire Township and attend Redeemer
Lutheran Church. They
have 4 daughters and 11 grandchildren.
His
past and present experiences have given him many tools necessary to be
an effective Commissioner.
